How do I manage pages?

You can manage your pages, which means you control the order in which your pages appear within the main navigation bar. You can also reorder the pages within the header and the footer areas.

The location of the navigation link for a page cannot be changed here. In other words, if your About page is within the Main Navigation, it cannot be moved to Footer Navigation. To change the link location please refer to the instructions for ‘How do I edit a page?’.

To manage your pages follow the instructions below.

  1. Place your mouse over ‘Edit’ on the admin bar, which appears at the top of the page when logged in. This will open a drop down menu, click on Manage pages. This will open the ‘Manage pages’ page.
  2. Click on the chosen page and drag and drop it into its new position. To drag the page, place your mouse over the page name. Click on the page name and keep your finger on the mouse. Keeping your finger on the mouse, move the page up or down to the desired location and drop it by releasing your finger from the mouse.
  3. You will see that the order of your pages has now changed on the main navigation bar.

Categories can also be managed. Please refer to How do I manage categories (change the order in which they appear)? for instructions.

NOTE: The header area is at the top right hand side of your website. The footer area is at the bottom right hand side of your website.

What are pages for?

ORS:On allows you to create and edit additional pages on your website.  This is useful for example if you want to create a biography page or more information on your company ethos. You can choose layouts, add and style text and add images from your Library and links.

Remember that you can place your pages in more than one location.

How do I create a new page?

    1. To create a new page go to your home page. Place your mouse over ‘Create’ on the admin bar at the top of every page. Select ‘Create a new page’. This will open a ‘New pagepage.
    2. Click on the URL box and type in the page name. If your website address is www.giftsforall.com and your page name is New Products then enter newproducts in this box and it will appear as www.giftsforall/newproducts when a customer clicks on that page.
    3. Next click on the ‘Navigation link title’ box and type in the title of the navigation link, for example ’New Products’.
    4. Click on the ‘Browser window title’ and type in the title of the browser window, for example ‘New Products’.
    5. To choose a template (i.e. the layout of your page) click on the circle on the bottom left of the template that you would like to use.
    6. Next click on the arrows on the right of the drop down menu underneath ‘Page link location’. This allows you to choose the location of the link to your page within the website. For more information see below.
    7. You then have the choice to create your new page by clicking on the ‘Create ’ button. If you do not wish to proceed, click on ‘Go back without creating page’.
    8. When you click the ‘Create new’ button you will taken to the ‘Editing page’ where you can add the rest of the information for your new page. Type in the ‘Page Title’, as you want it to appear at the top of the new page. If you prefer not to have a page title you can leave this blank.
    9. To add a meta tag description for this page click on ‘Show’ to the right of ‘Meta tag description’. This will open a box below ‘Meta tag description’ where you can enter your meta tag description. Repeat to add meta tag keywords. For more information on meta tag description and meta tag keywords please scroll to the bottom of this question.
    10. Click inside the ‘Page content’ box and type in the copy for your new page.
    11. Go to the column you would like to add the images/s to and click on the exact location within the column box where you want to place the image. To add images (photos or graphics) from your library click on the square symbol. This will open a window called ‘Insert Image from your image library’. Click on the arrow to the left of the relevant directory to access the image. You can see preview of the image when you place your mouse over the image name. Click on the image you would like to insert, then click on the ‘Insert’ button near the top of the window. To choose an image click on it. You will the chosen file to the right of the ‘1. File:’.
    12. Click on the ‘Add image’ button to add the image to the column or click on Cancel to go back.
    13. You can add product groups to your page. For more information and instructions on Product Groups please refer to How do I create a product group?.
    14. The ‘Page link location’ was chosen on the previous page.
    15. Click ‘Save page’ to save the information you have entered. This will take you to your new page.
    16. If you do not wish to proceed, click on ‘Go back without creating page’.

Top – page will appear under the shopping cart at the top right of each page.

Navigation – page will appear in the main navigation bar where your Home page and catalogue categories are situated.

Footer – page will appear at the bottom right of each page, to the right of your shop name and location.

None – The page link will not appear in any navigation.  This is useful for automated email pages. For more information on automated emails please refer to Automated Emails.

Note:
The meta tag description is designed to provide a brief description of your webpage which can be used by search engines or directories. Write a unique description for each page of your site limiting it to around 160 characters (including spaces) or less.

The meta tag keywords is a list of targeted words or phrases that best describe the contents of the web page. This helps the search engines know how to index your site. Separate keywords or phrases using a comma. Your list of keywords /phrases should be limited to around 10 – 15 unique words or phrases.


How do I edit a page?

    2. To edit the URL click on the URL box and type in the page name. If your website address is www.giftsforall.com and your page name is New Products then enter newproducts in this box and it will appear as www.giftsforall/newproducts when a customer clicks on that page. Click on the exisiting URL to highlight it then type in the new URL.
    3. To edit the Navigation link title click on the ‘Navigation link title’ box and type in the title, for example ’New products’. Click on the existing Navigation link title to highlight it then type in the new Navigation link title.
    4. To edit the ‘Browser window title’ click on the ‘Browser window title’ box and type in the title, for example ’New products’. Click on the existing Browser window title to highlight it then type in the new Browser window title.
    5. To add a meta tag description for this page click on ‘Show’ to the right of ‘Meta tag description’. This will open a box below ‘Meta tag description’ where you can enter your meta tag description. Repeat to add meta tag keywords. For more information on meta tag description and meta tag keywords please scroll to the bottom of this question.
    6. To change the template (i.e. the layout of your page) please refer to ‘To change page template’ below.
    7. To edit copy within a page click on the column where the text you would like to edit is located. Click and drag your mouse to highlight the copy you would like to edit. Enter the new copy.
    8. To edit an image within a page click on the column where the image you would like to edit is located. To delete the image click your mouse over it to highlight it and press delete on your keyboard. If you wish you can then add a new image to the page. Click on the square image box and click on an image from your image library then click on the ‘Add Image’ button.
    9. To add edit a product group within the column please refer to How do I edit a product group?.
    10. To change the Page link location click on the arrows on the right of the drop down menu underneath ‘Page link location’. This allows you to choose the new location of the link to your page within the website. Choose from:
    Top – page will appear under the shopping cart at the top right of each page.
    Navigation – page will appear in the main navigation bar where your Home page and catalogue categories are situated.
    Footer – page will appear at the bottom right of each page, to the right of your shop name and location.

To change page template.

    2. Click on the circle to the bottom left of the template you would like to use.3. Click on the ‘Save’ button to save the changes or click on ‘go back without saving’ if you do not wish to proceed.

How do I delete a page?

Go the page you would like to delete. Place your mouse over ‘Edit’ in the admin bar and click on ‘Delete this page’. A small window will open to as you ‘Are you sure you want to delete this page’. If you absolutely sure that you want to delete the page click the ‘OK’ button. If you do not wish to proceed with the deletion click the ‘Cancel’ button. Please note that the deletion is permanent.

How do I create a page with a contact form?

    1. To create a new page go to your home page. Place your mouse over ‘Create’ on the admin bar at the top of every page. Select ‘Create a new page’. This will open a ‘New page’ page.
    2. Click on the URL box and type in the page name. If your website address is www.giftsforall.com and your page name is Contact Us then enter contactus in this box and it will appear as www.giftsforall/contactus when a customer clicks on that page.
    3. Next click on the ‘Navigation link title’ box and type in the title of the navigation link, for example ‘Contact Us’.
    4. Click on the ‘Browser window title’ and type in the title of the browser window, for example ‘Contact Us’.
    5. To choose a template (i.e. the layout of your page) click on the circle on the bottom left of the template that you would like to use.
    6. Next click on the arrows on the right of the drop down menu underneath ‘Page link location’. This allows you to choose the location of the link to your page within the website. For more information see below.
    7. You then have the choice to create your new page by clicking on the ‘Create ’ button. If you do not wish to proceed, click on ‘Go back without creating page’.
    8. When you click the ‘Create new’ button you will taken to the ‘Editing page’ where you can add the rest of the information for your new page. Type in the ‘Page Title’, as you want it to appear at the top of the new page. If you prefer not to have a page title you can leave this blank.

    13. To add a contact form to your page go to the page column where you would like the form to appear and enter CONTACT_FORM into the column box. This is code that will place a contact form in that location on the page.
    14. The ‘Page link location’ was chosen on the previous page.
    15. Click ‘Save page’ to save the information you have entered. This will take you to your new page.
    16. If you do not wish to proceed, click on ‘Go back without creating page’.

    Top
    – page will appear under the shopping cart at the top right of each page.

How do I edit a pop up?

  1. To edit a pop up page go to the specific page you would like to edit that has the template set at pop up. Place your mouse over ‘Edit’ on the admin bar at the top of the page. Select ‘Manage Pages’. This will open a ‘Manage pages’ page.
  2. Scroll down to find the page name and click on edit to the right. This will open the ‘Editing page’ page. 3. To edit the page1. To edit the page go to the page you would like to edit. What is a pop up page?

A pop up page is a page that appears as a small window in the foreground of the page. Pop up windows are smaller than the background window, which is darkened to allow the pop up to stand out visually.

How do I hide a page from the main navigation?

Pages can be hidden in your shop navigation. This is useful for example if you want to create a page which in not seen in the main navigation bar but is linked to a graphic on another page.

When you create or edit a page you can choose where it appears in you navigation. ie top of page, main navigation or the footer.

Navigate to the page you want and select Edit Page from the main menu. Or select Manage Pages if you have already hidden the page and want to edit it.   When editing that page choose “None” from the drop down menu under “Page link location”  (near the bottom of the edit page)
